Redeeming Singleness
1 Corinthians 7:7
"I wish that all of you were as I am. But each of you has your own gift from God; one has this gift, another has that."
Mission Statement
At Route 77 Ministries, we are dedicated to reaching singles—whether never married, divorced, or widowed—by empowering them to live fully and faithfully in their current season of life. Inspired by 1 Corinthians 7:7, we view life as a road with both single and married lanes, each leading to the ultimate destination of heaven. Our mission is to provide support, encouragement, and resources to help singles embrace their unique paths, recognizing that their relationship status is not the destination but part of the journey towards a deeper relationship with God and the fulfillment of His purposes. Through fostering community, spiritual growth, and active engagement in faith, we aim to guide every single believer to live a purposeful and Christ-centered life.
Our Pillars
#1. Accepted
At Route 77 Ministries, we emphasize that single individuals are fully accepted and valued within the body of Christ. Singleness is not a temporary state of waiting to become a part of life; it is a significant and integral role within the Church. Our community celebrates the unique contributions of single people, recognizing their vital presence and participation in God's work.
Biblical Foundations:
-
1 Corinthians 12:12-14, 27 (NIV): "Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body... Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."
-
Ephesians 2:19 (NIV): "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people and also members of his household."
-
Romans 12:4-5 (NIV): "For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others."
-
Psalm 68:6 (NIV): "God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land."
These verses affirm that every believer, regardless of marital status, is an essential part of the Church. At Route 77 Ministries, we are committed to ensuring that single individuals feel embraced, valued, and empowered to live out their God-given purposes. Our community is not complete without the unique perspectives, talents, and contributions of singles who are fully integrated into the life and mission of the Church.
#2. Anchored
At Route 77 Ministries, our second pillar, "Anchored," emphasizes the vital importance of grounding ourselves in God and His promises rather than the transient things of this earth. Many people place their hopes and dreams on marriage and family, not realizing that these can become idols in their lives. While marriage and children are indeed blessings created by God, they are not the ultimate meaning and fulfillment of our lives. True meaning and fulfillment come from God alone.
We believe that anchoring our lives to God provides the stability and perspective needed to navigate life's challenges and joys. This pillar encourages us to focus on our relationship with God as the primary source of our identity and purpose.
Biblical Foundations:
-
Hebrews 6:19 (NIV): "We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain."
-
Colossians 3:2 (NIV): "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things."
-
Matthew 6:33 (NIV): "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
-
Psalm 62:5-6 (NIV): "Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken."
These verses remind us to place our trust and hope in God, ensuring that He remains the central focus of our lives. By anchoring ourselves to God, we find true stability, purpose, and fulfillment, transcending the temporary and often uncertain aspects of earthly life. At Route 77 Ministries, we are committed to helping individuals discover and maintain this profound connection with God, grounding their lives in His eternal promises.
#3. Abiding
At Route 77 Ministries, our third pillar, "Abiding," underscores the importance of living a life deeply rooted in Christ. Abiding in Christ means remaining within His care and living out the sanctification and righteousness that God calls us to. By doing so, we find true meaning and purpose in life, allowing us to focus less on our relationship status and more on our relationship with God.
This pillar emphasizes that when we abide in Christ, we are nurtured, guided, and sustained by His presence. It encourages individuals to cultivate a daily, intimate relationship with Jesus, drawing strength and direction from Him. Abiding in Christ is the key to experiencing a fulfilled and purposeful life, regardless of our external circumstances.
Biblical Foundations:
-
John 15:4-5 (NIV): "Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."
-
1 John 2:28 (NIV): "And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming."
-
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV): "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
-
Psalm 91:1 (NIV): "Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."
At Route 77 Ministries, we are dedicated to helping individuals understand and live out this principle, finding their true identity and fulfillment in a deep, abiding relationship with Jesus. By abiding in Christ, we can navigate life's challenges with confidence, knowing that our ultimate purpose and meaning are found in Him alone.
#4. Accountability
At Route 77 Ministries, our fourth pillar, "Accountability," highlights the importance of being responsible to God and others. As Christians, we are called to live in accountability, fostering relationships that encourage spiritual growth, mutual support, and faithful living. Singles, in particular, can face challenges in this area and may find it beneficial to seek out fellow believers who can provide a shoulder to lean on, pray with, and help navigate life's struggles.
Accountability helps prevent the pitfalls of autonomy and individualism, which can lead to isolation and spiritual stagnation. By building a community of accountability, we create a supportive environment where we can grow in faith and holiness together.
Biblical Foundations:
-
James 5:16 (NIV): "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective."
-
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV): "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
-
Proverbs 27:17 (NIV): "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."
-
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIV): "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up."
These verses emphasize the importance of living in community and being accountable to one another. At Route 77 Ministries, we encourage individuals to build meaningful relationships with fellow believers who can provide support, encouragement, and guidance. By fostering a culture of accountability, we can help each other grow in our walk with God and remain steadfast in our faith.
#5. Active
At Route 77 Ministries, our fifth pillar, "Active," emphasizes that singleness is not a time of stagnation but a season of dynamic growth and purpose. Singleness should be characterized by active faith, active life, active purpose, and active actions. Singles often think they are "waiting" for their spouse to show up before life can truly begin. However, it is crucial to embrace each stage of life fully and live it to the fullest, making the most of the opportunities and gifts God has given.
Being active in faith means engaging in spiritual practices, growing in knowledge of God's Word, and serving others. Being active in life involves pursuing personal and professional goals, building meaningful relationships, and contributing to the community. By living actively, singles can find fulfillment and joy in their current season, trusting that God's timing and plans are perfect.
Biblical Foundations:
-
1 Corinthians 7:32-34 (NIV): "I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs—how he can please the Lord. But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world—how he can please his wife—and his interests are divided."
-
Ecclesiastes 9:10 (NIV): "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom."
-
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV): "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
-
Colossians 3:23-24 (NIV): "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving."
These verses remind us to be diligent and wholehearted in our pursuits, using our time and talents to serve God and others. At Route 77 Ministries, we encourage singles to embrace their current stage of life with enthusiasm and purpose, living actively in faith, life, and service to God.
